Deep research: search the knowledge base and the web over several rounds for a cited report and slides

On the Documents page of the employee portal, ask Duaer to research a question. Duaer asks a few questions first, then searches the knowledge base you may read and the web over several rounds, reads the whole text, and writes a report that cites a source for each claim, saved as your document. Turn the report into slides in one click, edit them on the portal and download them as PowerPoint.

Turn on deep research

  1. An owner or admin of the organization opens Duaer Settings › AI rules and, under Deep research, turns on Let employees use deep research. It is off by default.
  2. Choose whether to Search the web. With it off, only the knowledge base is searched and no web page is searched or opened.
  3. Set Runs per person per day (1 to 50, default 5) and the model (the default, or any text model of the model pool), then save. The change is in the audit log.

Run a research

  1. On the employee portal, open Documents, click Deep research and write the question (up to 2,000 characters).
  2. Duaer asks up to 3 clarifying questions, such as region, time range or audience. Answer those that help, or leave them empty, and click Start research.
  3. The research runs in the background; the dialog shows what was searched and what was read. You can close it and find the run again under Recent.
  4. When it is done, click Open report. The report is your own document: edit it, share it or download it as Word.

How Duaer researches

  • It plans up to 5 queries and searches in up to 3 rounds; after each round it decides whether it has enough or what to search next.
  • For each query it reads the whole text of up to 3 knowledge items you may read and, when the web is on, the top 2 pages of the search results. A research reads at most 20 sources, up to 6,000 characters each.
  • Each claim in the report cites its source by number, like [1] or [2]. The Sources list at the end is built by Duaer from what was actually read; numbers that point nowhere are removed.
  • The organization’s question rules apply: a question on a blocked topic is refused before anything is searched. The report is masked for sensitive content like answers are.

Make slides

  1. Open a document and click Make slides under Export. Duaer drafts a new slides document and opens it; the document stays as it was.
  2. Each slide has a title, up to 8 points and speaker notes, up to 30 slides. Change, add, delete and reorder them; changes save as you go. Or click New slides on Documents to start from a blank deck.
  3. Click Download PowerPoint under Export for a .pptx file, with the speaker notes on each slide’s notes page. Slides cannot be saved to Feishu Docs yet.

Questions

Can deep research read what I may not?

No. The knowledge base is searched and read with your own access; what others may read and you may not never reaches the model or the report.

Why does it say no research is left today?

Each research started counts against the day (UTC), up to the limit your admin set. It resets the next day.

What if a research fails?

The dialog says why: nothing you can read was found, you have too many documents, or the research stopped. Change the question or delete some documents and try again.

Employee portal

Give employees their own Duaer employee portal

The Duaer employee portal is a separate sign-in address for each organization. Employees see the tasks and decisions workflows push to them and the metrics they follow, and can ask Duaer about them, without opening the workflow editor.

Ask Duaer

Ask about a file: upload a PDF, Word or Excel file to Ask Duaer

Send Duaer a file on the employee portal or in Feishu, DingTalk, Slack or Microsoft Teams and ask about it. Answers name the file they come from, and totals and rankings in a spreadsheet are calculated by Duaer.

Knowledge sources

Knowledge sources you can connect to Duaer

Chat tools, drives and documents, CRM and service, mail and meetings, data warehouses: what each source reads and how to connect it, and how the Duaer bot works in each chat tool.

Ask Duaer

Answer rules: one answer style, company terms and topics Duaer does not answer

In AI rules, set the tone and length of answers for the whole organization, teach Duaer the company’s own words (GMV is gross sales), and say how a blocked question is answered. Ask Duaer, chat tools and employee assistants follow them.

Permission-aware enterprise AI search: how Duaer keeps document access intact

Permission-aware enterprise AI search filters results by what each person may open in the source system, before any answer is written. Duaer follows the source’s permissions: a document shows up only for people who can open it where it lives, and answers use only those documents.
