Connect Microsoft Teams to the Duaer knowledge base
Index the last 30 days of chosen Teams channels, replies included, open to each team’s and channel’s members; add the Teams bot so employees ask Duaer in a personal chat or by mentioning it.
What Duaer reads in Teams
- The channels you tick, in the teams the connected account belongs to.
- The last 30 days of messages, replies included.
- Up to 100 teams and 200 channels.
Connect Teams channels
- In Microsoft Entra, register an app (or use one you have) with the delegated permissions User.Read, Team.ReadBasic.All, Channel.ReadBasic.All, ChannelMessage.Read.All, TeamMember.Read.All and ChannelMember.Read.All, and grant admin consent.
- In Duaer, create a Microsoft Teams OAuth2 API credential (or a Microsoft OAuth2 API credential with these Graph scopes) and sign in with an account that is in the teams to index.
- As an owner or admin, open Data sources in the sidebar, select Add source and choose Microsoft Teams, choose Knowledge source under Add as, then choose the credential and click Connect.
- Tick the channels under Channels to index and click Save channels.
Who finds which channel
Members are matched to Teams by email. Standard channels are found by the team’s members; private and shared channels only by the channel’s members. Channels the account can no longer read are listed on the source card.
How soon changes show
- New messages are read every 10 minutes.
- Members are all read again once a day, and member events the bot receives start a read at once.
Ask Duaer in Teams
- In Duaer, create a Microsoft Teams Bot credential with your Azure Bot’s App ID, App Password, App Type and Tenant ID, and click Add bot on the Teams source.
- Create an Azure Bot with that App ID, set its messaging endpoint to the URL shown on the source, and add the Microsoft Teams channel.
- Click Download Teams app package, upload it in Teams and install it for your people.
- Turn on Ask Duaer in Teams. Employees ask in a personal chat, or mention it in a channel.
Answers cite their sources and use only what the person asking may open. When they ask it to do something, it sends a card with Run and Cancel.
Limits
- The last 30 days only; up to 100 teams and 200 channels.
- Only channels in the teams of the connected account can be chosen.
- Files in OneDrive and SharePoint come through the Microsoft 365 source; see Turn your drives and documents into a knowledge base.
Questions
Why is a channel missing from the list?
The connected account is not in that team or private channel. Add the account, then reload the source.
What does the Teams bot need?
An Azure Bot (App ID, App Password, App Type, Tenant ID) whose messaging endpoint points at Duaer, and the app package Duaer makes, installed in Teams.
Are files shared in channels indexed?
Channel messages come through the Teams source; channel files live in SharePoint and come through the Microsoft 365 source.

Permission-aware enterprise AI search filters results by what each person may open in the source system, before any answer is written. Duaer follows the source’s permissions: a document shows up only for people who can open it where it lives, and answers use only those documents.
