Search Dropbox in your knowledge base with Duaer
Connect Dropbox to the Duaer knowledge base. People ask about files in shared folders, and find only what Dropbox shares with them.
What does Duaer find in Dropbox?
Duaer indexes up to 5,000 files the connected account sees: its own folders and the shared folders it belongs to. PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text, Markdown, CSV and JSON files up to 20 MB are read; other files are found by name.
People can ask “How is the Nordics pipeline doing?”. Duaer finds the answer in a file in a shared folder and cites it, and the citation opens the file in Dropbox.
How do you connect Dropbox to Duaer?
- In Duaer, create a Dropbox OAuth2 API credential with full Dropbox access and authorize it with a Dropbox account that is a member of the shared folders people should search, or use a Dropbox API credential with an access token.
- As an owner or admin, open Knowledge base › Data sources, choose the credential on the Dropbox card and click Connect.
- When indexing is done, ask a question whose answer is in a Dropbox file and check that the citation points to that file.
Who finds which file?
- A file in a shared folder: that folder's members.
- A file shared on its own: its members as well.
- A link open to the team or to anyone: the whole Duaer organization; files open to anyone are also marked public for the sensitive content check. Password and members-only links do not count.
- A file shared with nobody: the connected account only.
Members are matched to Dropbox users by email. When a file is shared with a Dropbox group, its members cannot be read yet, and the source card counts the items this affects.
What are the limits?
- Only what the connected account sees: other members' private folders that are not shared with it are not read. To cover the team, connect the account that belongs to the most shared folders.
- Up to 5,000 files; files over 20 MB or in other formats are found by name only; Paper docs' content, file versions and comments are not read.

To get AI answers with citations and without made-up facts, do three things: answer only from documents the person may read, mark which file each statement comes from, and give no answer when there is no source. The Duaer knowledge base answers this way by default.
