# Summarize new emails and list to-dos automatically with Duaer

In Duaer, each new email goes to the email summary employee, which returns a short summary, to-dos, and tone, then posts them to WeCom, Slack, or email.
## Build the email summary flow in Duaer

1. Hire the [Duaer email summary employee](https://hire.duaer.com/email-summary/) and copy its ID under Hired.
2. Add a trigger: Gmail Trigger for Gmail (turn off Simplify to get the body), or [Email Trigger (IMAP)](/build/email-trigger-imap.md) for any IMAP mailbox.
3. Add [Duaer Employee](/build/duaer-employee.md), paste the ID, and set Input to From: {{ $json.from.text }}, a new line, Subject: {{ $json.subject }}, a new line, {{ $json.text }}. Match the field names to your trigger output.
4. Add a notifier: a [WeCom](/build/wecom.md) group bot, [Slack](/build/slack.md), or [Send Email](/build/send-email.md), with {{ $json.summary }} and {{ $json.todos }} in the message.
5. Publish the digital organization. Every new email is summarized from then on.

## What the Duaer email summary employee returns

- summary: one or two sentences faithful to the email.
- todos: to-dos separated by semicolons, or none.
- tone: urgent, neutral, friendly, or angry.

To post only urgent mail, add [If](/build/if.md) before the notifier with {{ $json.tone }} equal to urgent. Each email costs 5 credits.
## Questions

### Can Duaer summarize mail from a non-Gmail mailbox?

Yes. Duaer reads any IMAP mailbox with Email Trigger (IMAP) and hands the body to the email summary employee.

### Does the Duaer email summary employee invent to-dos?

No. The Duaer summary stays faithful to the email, and todos is none when there is nothing to do.
