# Use your own model keys in a Duaer organization

Add your own provider API key to Duaer, and calls to that provider in your organization run on your own bill instead of Duaer credits.
## Already have a model account? Use it in Duaer

Many teams already have an account with a model provider, with negotiated pricing and prepaid quota. Duaer own model keys let you use that quota inside Duaer: when digital organizations and digital employees in your organization call that provider, they use your key, and Duaer charges no credits.

Your provider bill stays clear, and your Duaer credits are saved for everything else.

## Set up a Duaer own model key in a minute

1. As the owner or an admin, open Duaer Settings › Own model keys. The list shows the model providers Duaer already connects, each on the Duaer platform key by default.
2. On the provider you want, click Use own key, paste that provider’s API key, and click Save.
3. Duaer first uses the key to list the provider’s models. If it works, you see Key saved, and from then on every call to that provider in your organization uses your key.

Click Replace to swap in a new key. Click Remove to stop using it — calls to that provider go back to the Duaer platform key and spend credits again.

## What you can count on

- Keys are stored encrypted, and after saving the page only shows a masked version.
- Only the organization’s owner and admins can open this page. Members cannot see or change it.
- When a key expires or runs out of quota, the call returns the provider’s error. Duaer never quietly falls back to the platform key and charges your credits.
- A key only applies to the current organization, not to other Duaer organizations you belong to.

## Where Duaer own model keys apply

You set one key per provider, and only for providers already in the list — you cannot add a new provider or change its address. Calls into Duaer with a Model API key, and voice cloning, still use the Duaer platform key.
## Questions

### What happens if I paste a wrong key into Duaer?

Before saving, Duaer uses the key to list the provider’s models. If the key does not work, saving fails and nothing is stored.

### Does Duaer fall back to the platform key when my key expires?

No. Duaer never quietly switches back to the platform key and charges your credits. The call returns the provider’s error; replace the key, or remove it to go back to the platform key.

### Can members of the Duaer organization see the key?

No. Only the owner and admins of the Duaer organization can open Own model keys. The key is stored encrypted and the page only shows it masked.
