# Common issues with Chat Trigger in Duaer

Common Chat Trigger issues in Duaer: passing data in from a web page, and previous messages that do not load.
## Pass data from a web page to an embedded Chat Trigger <a href="#pass-data-from-a-website-to-an-embedded-chat-trigger-node" id="pass-data-from-a-website-to-an-embedded-chat-trigger-node"></a>

When you embed the chat window, put any data in the metadata of createChat, such as a user ID from a site cookie. It appears in the Chat Trigger output with the other fields, ready for later nodes.

## Previous messages do not load <a href="#chat-trigger-node-doesnt-fetch-previous-messages" id="chat-trigger-node-doesnt-fetch-previous-messages"></a>

This often shows as workflow could not be started!. Load Previous Session reads history by sessionId. With From Memory, connect the same memory node to both Chat Trigger and AI Agent:

1. Turn on Make Chat Publicly Available, then set Load Previous Session to From Memory under Chat Trigger Options.
2. Connect a Simple Memory node to the Chat Trigger Memory input.
3. Connect the same Simple Memory node to the AI Agent Memory input.
4. In Simple Memory, set Session ID to Connected Chat Trigger Node.

If Session ID uses an expression, it must give the same value on both nodes. If it cannot, connect a separate memory node to each.

### How does a Duaer Chat Trigger get the site user ID?

Add metadata to createChat when you embed the Duaer chat window, for example { userId: '42' }. It appears in the Chat Trigger output.
