# Pick a model in Duaer Chat Model

In Duaer, Duaer Chat Model connects a model to an AI Agent or Basic LLM Chain. Whoever configures the node picks the model from a dropdown; each model shows its own AI credits.
## Pick a model

1. On the Model input of an AI Agent or Basic LLM Chain, add Duaer Chat Model.
2. Open the Model dropdown. It lists the text models your Duaer admin enabled under Admin → Model pool, named as in admin.
3. Each option reads Input N, output M AI credits per 1M tokens: the AI credits for every million input tokens and every million output tokens. Pick one for its price and quality.
4. Select Execute step to confirm the model answers.

No credential is needed: Duaer reaches its gateway as you and charges your credits. With a Duaer API credential selected, the list and billing follow that credential.

## Duaer Chat Model prices and the required model

Duaer Chat Model prices come from the official prices your admin setup carries, converted at your plan rate. A model without both official prices shows the flat rate: 1,000 credits per 1M tokens, which is 1 credit per 1,000 tokens. Each call costs at least 1 credit.

Model is required. When it is empty the node is marked, and a run fails with Select a model in Duaer Chat Model before any request. Duaer no longer picks a model for you, because models cost different credits. For credit allowances, refer to [Duaer plans and credits](/manage-cloud/plans.md).

### Which model does Duaer Chat Model use when none is picked?

None. Duaer Chat Model does not run without a model; pick one from the Model dropdown first.

### Why is a model missing from the Duaer Chat Model dropdown?

Your Duaer admin has not enabled it under Admin → Model pool, or it is not a text model on an OpenAI-compatible source.
