# Load a character with Duaer Character

In Duaer, Duaer Character loads a character you saved under Settings › My characters by name: its persona, voice, and image.
## Save a character first

Under Settings › My characters, select New character and enter a name, a persona (how this character speaks), and a voice. The voice can be a Duaer preset, one of your cloned voices, or any voice ID you type. You can add a character image: PNG, JPEG, or WebP, up to 5 MB.

## Load the character in a digital organization

1. Search for Duaer Character and connect it after the previous node.
2. In Character Name, enter the name exactly as saved under My characters.
3. Select Execute step. Each item keeps its fields and gains character (the name), persona, and voice (the voice ID). If the character has an image, it goes in the binary field character; rename it with Image Binary Field.

## What to do with a character next

- Narration: in [Duaer Speech](/build/duaer-speech.md), set Voice to the expression {{ $json.voice }}.
- Lines: put {{ $json.persona }} in an AI node's prompt so the copy matches the character's voice.
- Pictures: in [Duaer Image](/build/duaer-image.md), enter character in Reference Image Binary Fields to draw the same person in a new scene.
## Questions

### Why can Duaer Character not find my character?

Character Name must match the name under Settings › My characters exactly. After a character is deleted, Duaer Character nodes that use it fail.

### Does Duaer Character work without a character image?

Yes. In Duaer, Duaer Character still outputs the name, persona, and voice; it just adds no binary field.
