# Translate one Excel column in bulk with AI in Duaer

In Duaer, upload a spreadsheet, translate one column row by row with Basic LLM Chain, merge the translation back, and export.
## Build bulk translation in Duaer

1. Add [Form Trigger](/build/form-trigger.md) with one File field labelled Sheet and Accepted File Types .xlsx.
2. Add [Extract from File](/build/extract-from-file.md) with Extract From XLSX and Input Binary Field Sheet. Each row becomes one item.
3. Add [Basic LLM Chain](/integrations/builtin/cluster-nodes/root-nodes/n8n-nodes-langchain.chainllm.md) with [Duaer Chat Model](/build/duaer-chat-model.md) on Chat Model. Source for Prompt (User Message) Define below, Prompt (User Message): Translate this product name into German. Output only the translation: {{ $json.Name }}.
4. Basic LLM Chain outputs only text. Add [Merge](/build/merge.md) with Input 1 from Extract from File and Input 2 from Basic LLM Chain, Mode Combine, Combine By Position.
5. Add [Convert to File](/build/convert-to-file.md) with Convert to XLSX to export the sheet with the new text column.

## Steadier translations

- Fixed terms: list them in the Prompt, such as tumbler = Isolierbecher.
- Drop empty cells with [Filter](/build/filter.md) first, and feed Merge Input 1 from after Filter so row counts match.
- Each row is one model call at the model price. Try the Prompt on 20 rows before thousands.
## Questions

### Why does the Duaer translation result lack the original columns?

Duaer Basic LLM Chain outputs only text. Merge it back with the rows by Position.

### Can Duaer translate several columns at once?

Yes. Ask for JSON in the Duaer Prompt, or add one Basic LLM Chain per column and merge them in turn.
