# Use DeepSeek models in a Duaer digital organization

In Duaer, add your DeepSeek API key once, then plug deepseek-chat or deepseek-reasoner into an AI Agent or Basic LLM Chain.
## Connect DeepSeek in Duaer

1. Create an API key on the DeepSeek platform and make sure the account has balance.
2. In Duaer credentials, create DeepSeek and paste the API key. Keep Base URL as https://api.deepseek.com unless you use a proxy. Refer to [DeepSeek credentials in Duaer](/integrations/builtin/credentials/deepseek.md).
3. On Chat Model of an [AI Agent](/integrations/builtin/cluster-nodes/root-nodes/n8n-nodes-langchain.agent.md) or [Basic LLM Chain](/integrations/builtin/cluster-nodes/root-nodes/n8n-nodes-langchain.chainllm.md), attach [DeepSeek Chat Model](/integrations/builtin/cluster-nodes/sub-nodes/n8n-nodes-langchain.lmchatdeepseek.md) and pick the credential.
4. Set Model to deepseek-chat (chat, writing, tool calls) or deepseek-reasoner (multi-step reasoning) and select Execute step.

## Without your own DeepSeek key

When your Duaer admin enables DeepSeek in the model pool, pick it in [Duaer Chat Model](/build/duaer-chat-model.md). It charges Duaer credits, so there is no separate DeepSeek bill.

### What if DeepSeek returns 402 or insufficient balance in Duaer?

The DeepSeek account is out of balance. Top up on the DeepSeek platform, or switch to Duaer Chat Model in Duaer.

### Which DeepSeek model should a Duaer AI Agent use?

Use deepseek-chat when a Duaer AI Agent calls tools; try deepseek-reasoner for reasoning without tools.
