# Use Chat hub in Duaer

Chat hub gives people a chat entry without the canvas. From Duaer v3 it is off by default. You can turn it on temporarily with DUAER_ENABLED_MODULES.
## A chat entry, not the canvas

Chat hub lets people use connected capabilities through conversation, without opening the digital-organization editor. It is not the same screen as one execution record or Insights.

1. Open Chat in the navigation (when the module is enabled).
2. Pick a model or an available digital-organization Agent.
3. Start the conversation.

Duaer v3 turns Chat hub off by default, and the Chat section leaves the UI. To keep it for a while, add chat-hub to DUAER_ENABLED_MODULES. v4 removes the feature. See [v3 breaking changes](/changelog/v30-breaking-changes.md).

## Chat user role <a href="#chat-user-role" id="chat-user-role"></a>

The Chat user role is for people who mainly use Chat and do not need to edit digital organizations. Product notes about Chat users link to this section. Giving someone this role is not the same as making them a canvas admin.

Without Chat hub (or with the module disabled), that role has no matching entry point.

### Is Chat hub still on by default after Duaer v3?

No. From Duaer v3, Chat hub is off by default and the Chat section leaves the UI. Add chat-hub to DUAER_ENABLED_MODULES to turn it back on. v4 removes the feature.

### Can a Duaer Chat user edit digital organizations?

Not by default. A Chat user mainly talks through Chat hub and does not get the canvas to edit digital organizations or credentials. Without Chat hub (or with the module off), that role has no matching entry.
